More useless government intervention

Just when thought it could not get more up surd Washington does it again. Here comes a new piece of legislation to make all the do gooders feel like they make a difference. This is due to the new child nutrition bill on the way to the President’s desk. This one has a seal of approval from Ms. Barrack Obama the first lady. The idea is to give the government power to limit school bake sales and other fundraisers that health advocates say sometimes replace wholesome meals in the lunchroom. We can joke but we do think this is bad politics as any time the federal government steps into how city and states operate is a constitutional slippery slope. The federal government should never be regulating this kind of actions at the neighborhood level. The legislation would apply to all foods sold in schools during regular class hours, including in the cafeteria line, vending machines and at fundraisers. After school and off hours are permitted. The bake sale is the easiest way for cash strapped school that is under funded by the government already. Instead of funding the millions of useless programs or removing the layers of hack jobs, this is the way government sticks another needle in the tax payer. Now the school will be forced to hit up the parents and instead of using a 100% profit margin bake sale they must find alternate routes to raise money they need to function.
