Roll out the pork barrel

We applaud this congress for killing the Henry Ried Omnibus bill, that was an early Christmas present. We were watching the Twitter feed from John McCain yesterday. He twittered out the top ten pork items from the bill. We are going to list them so they are here forever as a testament to how useless the 11th congress has been.

• $1,000,000 for a Hawaii Seafood Program in Honolulu
• $400,000 for a National Textile Center at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY
• $500,000 National Textile Center Research at North Carolina State
• $1,000,000 4 Textile Research Program @ the Textile/Clothing Technology Corp in NC
• $300,000 for a museum of farming in Urbandale, IA
• $1,000,000 for a sewer pipe in North Pole, AK – population a grand total of 1,700
• $1,000,000 for improvements to a pond in Maplewood, MN
• $250,000 for a ceramics museum in Biloxi, MS
• $1,000,000 for a “weather camera installation” in Hawaii.
• $2,000,000 million for ferry boats & terminal facilities at Port Lions, Alaska (population 237)

We do wonder if McCain put more pork from Alaska as a shot to Palin. He probably does blame his loss on her and feels that no one would know her if he did not tap her for Vice President. It would even be worse if she was the nominee this time around. The other thing is Hawaii, could that be because they are hiding a birth certificate.
